In recent years, there has been renewed national attention on the importance of supporting Black-owned businesses. While those conversations often grow louder during moments of social awareness, the reality is that economic empowerment has always mattered within the Black community.
For generations, Black entrepreneurs have faced barriers to funding, business opportunities, industry access, and long-term wealth building. Although progress has been made, significant gaps in household wealth and business ownership still exist today.
